POSITION: Building Energy Management System - Commissioning Engineer

SALARY: £37k plus depending on experience and qualifications

LOCATION: Based from home in or around the Berks / Herts / Oxford / Bucks areas - the normal place of work will be customer sites generally within 50 miles of home.

EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will possess Electrical or Control and Instrumentation qualifications with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the building energy management system area.

Must have a good working knowledge of TREND IQ3 and IQ4 systems and should ideally have successfully completed the accredited courses, Siemens and or Tridium experience would be an added advantage.

HOLIDAY: Basic allowance of 24 days plus bank holidays


To carry out the commissioning, support and final handover of projects, using Trend or Tridium controller technology on building and energy managements systems.

To be considered the applicant must be electrically qualified to C&G Pt2 or B-Tec as a minimum and / or have completed an Indentured 4 year electrical / controls / instrumentation apprenticeship.


1    To prove the correct operation of plant prior to handover to the client, measured against the project design specification.

2    To modify motor control panels on site adding contactors, relays and controller hardware.

3    To configure and commission building and energy management systems using Trend or another system technology.

4    To take the lead role in commissioning to ensure projects are completed to the required standard on time.

5   To download software generated by yourself / applications engineering and verify the accurate operation of all field equipment, stroking valves dampers and checking the accuracy of field measuring instruments, record and document in O&Ms.

6    Carry out / supervise as applicable, the cutting-in of the control system interface wiring to existing control systems and document for record purposes.

7    To follow quality control procedures for the handover and sign-off which ensures rigorous test procedures are completed for all control software and system configuration programmes, prior to inclusion in any project design application.

8    To act in a professional and courteous manner during all customer and in-house staff communication contact.
9    To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and any other  person within your department and any person who may be affected by your acts or omissions.  Adhere to relevant statutory health and safety regulations, policies, codes of practice and departmental safety procedures.

10  To take responsible care and make proper use of all company property entrusted to you.

11  To maintain all matters of Company confidentiality in line with the Company's confidentiality statement, also including any information relating to our customers and our competitors.

12  To identify training requirements or deficiencies adversely affecting you or your ability to achieve key objectives, which should be highlighted, with solutions and be proposed and then discussed with the Project Manager.
