INTERMEDIATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
 

My client is a small/medium sized building services consultancy based in Luton that employs 15 – 20 staff.

They are seeking a competent Revit MEP Technician to join their CAD team on a permanent basis.

PACKAGE
  • Salary starting from £28,000.00 rising to £42,000.00 after a minimum of 4 years’ experience.
  • Travel Allowance - £200/month.
  • Private Healthcare.
  • 3% Employer Pension Contributions.
  • 25 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays (3 days to be used for Christmas).
CORE CRITERIA

To assist in the overall preparation and submission of detailed design and co-ordination of Building
Services solutions including, Lighting, Small Power, Fire Alarms, Low Voltage Distribution,
Communications, Access & Security and Lightning Protection.

CAPABILITIES
  • Cable sizing using Amtech.
  • Lighting design and calculations using Relux based upon CIBSE performance criteria and
energy targets.
  • Good working knowledge of BS 7671 17th Edition.
  • Detailed Equipment Schedules based upon energy and calculated performance.
  • Knowledge of CIBSE Guides, Knowledge Series and Technical Memorandums.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations & appropriate British Standards.
 
DESIGN

  • Adopt Company Procedures throughout the design process.
  • Assisting in concept design.
  • Production of detailed design.
  • Produce detailed cable and lighting calculations using Amtech and Relux.
  • Maintain comprehensive design file.
  • Assist in the production and checking of CAD drawings/BIM model.
  • Produce scheme design drawings for CAD.
  • Input design information into the thermal modelling process.
  • Produce design sketches.
  • Liaise with suppliers to gain expert knowledge and costs.
  • Adopt flexible attitude to project and design.
  • Understanding of IES, TAS, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Understanding of BREEAM.
 
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Adopt Company Procedures throughout the duration of the project.
  • Assisting with client management.
  • Communicating with clients, providing technical information as required.
  • Working alongside the Senior Engineers to prepare budgets.
  • Interpreting project requirements.
  • Assist the Senior Engineers to prepare project programme for design/pre-construction.
  • Assist the Senior Engineers to produce design stage reports as appropriate.
  • Understand project costs and M&E ratios.
  • Demonstrate interest in financial matters.
  • Monitor and report site progress.
  • Assist in on site problem solving.
  • Respond to RFIs and site queries.
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION
  • Relevant qualifications such as ONC/HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Previous experience within a consultancy or contracting environment.
  • Min of 4 years’ experience.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
