Technical Officer (Planned Maintenance)
This is a large public sector organisation based in Newtownards who provide services to the public and the community across North Down and throughout the Ards Peninsula. They have a vast estate of buildings, land, parks and leisure facilities located across North Down and Newtownards.
Your new role
This is a temporary position until April 2018 offering any suitable candidate the opportunity to commence immediately.
To provide Technical support in the planning, programming, and supervision of property maintenance matters within the organisation.
This includes the preparation of appropriate Contract Documentation and the provision of support to the Senior Technical Officer. Also to provide expert advice and support on other Construction related matters.
To complete annual condition surveys of property and to use this as the basis for a planned maintenance schedule of works.
To assist in the preparation of annual estimates in respect of building maintenance matters.
The preparation of contract documentation for capital and revenue works.
The supervision of capital and revenue works, and the approval of payments to contractors and suppliers.
To ensure full compliance with all the Statutory Authority's requirements in relation to the above e.g. planning approval, HSE obligations, etc.
The programming of works to ensure minimum disruption to public services and the delivery of these to agreed targets and deadlines.
The use of appropriate IT software for the production of Technical Drawings.
To ensure that adequate records are kept of all planned Works and completed Works.
Establishment and upkeep of appropriate systems to ensure full compliance with legislation pursuant to the organisations provisions e.g. CAWR 2003, DDA and CDM.
Delivery of suitable systems for the management and maintenance of a wide range of the organisations obligations e.g. provision of play areas, provision of festoon lighting, and compliance with energy management guidelines.
To ensure a working environment that provides equality, health and safety and development for employees and Contractors in accordance with the organisations policies and legal requirements.
The provision of Technical Support in response to unplanned items of work that may occur within the organisation.
To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in accordance with the general nature of the post.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a degree qualification in a construction or property related subject and have 1 years experience in a similar position. Or you will have over 5 years experience in a construction or property maintenance position along with an HND/C qualification. You must have a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
What you'll get in return
Rate of pay is £10.75 per hour, 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. You will be paid every Friday morning by BACS transfer.
