6. JOB PURPOSE:
To maintain grounds, building fabric, building services and all equipment in a cost effective manner, ensuring compliance with all current National legislation and Spire Healthcare policies. Maintaining a safe environment for all staff and customers.
In accordance with a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) System carry out on a daily/weekly/monthly basis all routine checks and replacements required.
Following PPM actions, input relevant data into planning record system (Frontline) so as to ensure accurate records are maintained.
To monitor energy consumption, maintain related records of performance and make recommendations to improve conservation.
To identify and initiate action, either directly or via contractors, on all repairs required in the event of a breakdown or defect.
To identify all maintenance work not covered by PPM but recorded on the Hospital Maintenance Request log and action as required either directly or via contractors.
To carry out or co-ordinate any minor alterations (e.g refurbishment/redecoration) to the building as and when required.
Ensure stock levels of engineering items and consumables, including diesel oil for emergency generation are kept at a satisfactory level.
To identify potential cost savings in the maintenance and works area and advise Engineering Manager accordingly.
To provide out of hours emergency on-call service with immediate access to a car.
Actively partake in training such as Medical Gases, Legionella and Autoclave testing.
8. QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
An apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering would be required with experience in the healthcare industry preferable.
9. JUDGEMENT SKILLS:
The job holder will work to the guidelines and codes of practice specified by Spire Healthcare Ltd.
10. FREEDOM OF ACTION:
In line with the above mentioned.
To comply with all health and safety legislation including COSHH regulations.
The post holder will be operating in a 24 hour acute hospital setting and will be required to be responsive to a constantly changing environment.
