Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical)
Multi-skilled Engineer (M+E)
I am currently working in partnership with a leading independent commercial building surveying consultancy who are looking to appoint a dynamic Multi-skilled Engineer to join their expanding M&E team in their central London office. The ideal candidate would be from a Mechanical Design background. Do you want to maintain your involvement in Design whilst exploring another side of the industry and adding another string to your bow? Are you interested in possibly going down the Project Management route in your future career? Then this could be the opportunity for you.
As a building surveying practice, the role of an M&E Engineer is twofold. The firm are experts in dilapidations, due diligence surveys and condition reports, where multi-skilled M&E Engineers work alongside the Building Surveyors, pooling expertise to undertake surveys of the buildings (largely in the commercial and retail sectors) and identify any material issues or lost value. This is interesting work for an engineer, rooted in design experience but with a different and interesting twist. The second stage of the firm’s project involvement is in the design improvements to the building, based on the dilapidations / due diligence surveys, which draws even more directly on the Building Services design experience of the engineers.
The Multi-skilled Engineer will have crucial involvement in the surveying and design sides of the firm’s offer, as well as client facing responsibilities. Report writing is a crucial aspect of the role, and all applicants should have a good standard of written English.
