An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and client-focused Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client, an international multi-disciplinary consultancy, based in central Birmingham. The successful candidate will be joining the team of highly-skilled engineers in playing a key role in their mission to make buildings more energy efficient, sustainable and cost effective to operate.

This role involves ensuring the successful delivery of innovative mechanical design solutions for some of the most exciting building projects in the UK and around the world. The successful candidate will lead a team of specialist engineers and technicians, and work closely with colleagues of various disciplines to manage the delivery of technically-excellent, profitable projects.

This consultancy specialises in the aviation, critical systems, education, government, healthcare, industrial, lifestyle, master planning/infrastructure, rail, residential, retail, workplace and mixed-use sectors.

Candidate Requirements:
Chartered Engineer, educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (MEng or BEng)
Vast experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within a building services context
Good working knowledge of relevant design software including CYMAP and/or Hevacomp
Experience in leading large-scale projects to achieve financial and time deadlines
Passion for creative and intuitive design
Excellent communication and project management skills
