We’re recruiting to attract a high achieving candidate to assist in the delivery of our long-term strategic objectives.  This is a new role and you will work across the business at English Heritage to keep our historic properties, monuments and collections safe. This makes us a varied and unique place to come to work, no two days are the same so be prepared to work in a dynamic and challenging environment with some of the best views in the country.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Building Services Engineer with substantial recent post qualification practical experience in a commercial environment and relevant conservation and historic environment experience. This role is based in Swindon but will require frequent travel to various sites.

As a member of the Professional Services Team you will be providing specialist support to all Estates Teams to help develop standards and to ensure quality outcomes for the routine maintenance, repair and conservation work and for the investment projects undertaken. Working with the Energy and Sustainability Manager and other professionals you will ensure that environment sustainability is fully considered and integrated into the design, development, refurbishment, maintenance and operation of our estate and the buildings in our care, occupation and control

As the lead engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that the Building Services Managers achieve the highest professional standards required to maintain the estate and collections in a suitable and safe environment.  You will need to hit the ground running and relish the opportunity to drive this new role forward for the benefit of our estate and collections.  Your natural leadership and proven team management skills will be easily recognisable. A confident communicator is a must for this post.

The Estates team manage a range of estate services including Maintenance, Electrical, Security, Fire and Protection and manage delivery of the Trusts capital investment programme.  You will provide assurance that the contractors we engage to carry out maintenance services and the consultants we engage to provide design services meet the highest standards. 

You will also have experience of building effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, evidencing a very strong focus on prioritising the customer and excellent ability to gain their trust and support.
