Principal Mechnical Engnieer
Due to succession planning, we have a unique opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a privately-owned Building Services Consultancy in London.
Having increased turnover and profitability every year since they were formed they remain focussed on quality, care and innovation and secure virtually all of their work via recommendations or repeat business.
They are large enough to compete against the larger, global multi-disciplinary engineering consultancies however small enough to provide a very personal and high level of care and attention that their clients' have become accustomed to over the past 25 years.
With the forthcoming retirement of one of the founding Directors there is a clear opportunity to not only lead the Mechanical team but also to step up to a wider role running the business and potentially a Directorship.
Working in collaboration with the other Directors, you will be responsible for the design, selection and specification of HVAC services on projects ranging from £5M - £100M and overall management of the Mechanical team. This will include attending site surveys, produce technical reports and specifications, assisting with equipment selection and scheduling, managing the workload and delegating tasks to Junior Engineers, providing input into fee forecasting and ensuring all designs meet Part L, BREEAM and British Standards.
You will also liaise with external architects, project managers and specialist consultants and ideally be able to generate additional revenue by securing repeat work and also generating new clients. You will enjoy full autonomy and ownership of all projects under your control and will be responsible for ultimately ensuring all projects remain profitable, meet the client's requirements and are delivered on time.
Given the nature of the role it is likely that you are Degree qualified, have at least eight years' experience in Building Services and are able to lead, design and deliver a project from feasibility through to post occupancy. A working knowledge of IES and Hevacomp, understanding of BIM and ability to produce co-ordinated and energy efficient HVAC designs (including hot and cold-water services) is essential.
With a list of current projects ranging from hotels, commercial offices, retail developments, cinemas, hospitals to high rise residential towers this role will appeal to a client facing Principal Mechanical Engineer who is looking for variety, a clear career path to Director and the option of potential equity within the next two to three years.
Overall a great opportunity to join a solid, Engineering led business and be instrumental in its future direction and success.
