Advanced Oncotherapy is an innovative technology business focused on delivering a proton-based radiotherapy system using as its basis, technology originally developed and tested at the world-renowned CERN research facility in Switzerland. The company acquired this technological know-how through the acquisition of A.D.A.M. SA, a CERN spin-off company, in 2013, and has since gone on to develop further innovations and features.

Proton beam therapy will play a crucial role in the affordable treatment of cancer in the future. Advanced Oncotherapy’s system is based on a linear accelerator (‘LIGHT’) technology that is superior to traditional cyclotron/synchrotron accelerators and significantly less expensive to implement.

Commercial momentum is now building.In the UK: the Company has formed a JV with Circle, a leading UK healthcare company, to create a proton therapy centre at a prestigious Harley Street site which is currently being developed.

In preparation for the installation and commissioning of the first LIGHT system at our test site (STFC Daresbury) prior to shipping to our customer site, the Client Services Team of Advanced Oncotherapy plc must ensure that all sites are fully prepared.

The role of the Mechanical Building Services Engineer is to be responsible for all activities that relate to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services, drainage, above ground sanitation, medical gases, special gases, water treatment, etc. We are at the stage with these designs and plans, that we now also require the creation of 2D drawings and 3D models of the Mechanical Building Services.

Summary of key areas of responsibility:

  1. Design and specification of Mechanical Engineering Services.
  2. Design and specification of Product Mechanical Services.
  3. Creation of 2D drawings and 3D model

Responsible for the design and implementation of Mechanical Building Services for our various projects and also the cooling and air conditioning infrastructures for the product components.

Creation of 2D drawings and 3D model of the Mechanical Building Services.

Responsible for all activities that relate to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services, drainage, above ground sanitation, medical gases, special gases, water treatment, etc.

Responsible for coordinating with, and assisting AVO personnel, ADAM personnel, clients and suppliers.

Responsible for determining the most suitable mechanical engineering services arrangements for offices, consultation rooms, technical areas, auxiliary areas, etc, medium sized rack rooms, etc, and the extensive close control water and air cooling requirements for the proton therapy product components, all within a medical environment.

The mechanical services detailed design will either be carried out by the post holder or an outside consultant under the direction of the post holder.

Responsible for arranging a suitable contractor to carry out the installation works under strict monitoring by the stakeholders.

Responsible for advising other team members regarding matters associated with the ongoing operation and maintenance of the completed installation.
