To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit Mechanical Services Engineer. 

Your new role 
This role will be responsible for ensuring all the mechanical aspects; such as, hot & cold water services, ventilation and plumbing services are maintained across the university and estates, providing a high quality of service and ensuring a safe working environment. Using your experience, you will effectively deliver projects within the approved budgets. You will be involved with the procurement and negotiation of any external contracts required for the mechanical services; your involvement will require you to ensure the contract meets the agreed standard of service. You will also be required to manage the inspections relating to the mechanical equipment on the university campus; and maintaining the relevant records. You will be required to manage any pre-planned maintenance across the estate department. You will communicate with consultants on any mechanical issues regarding the campus, ensuring the projects are completed within the available budget and are completed without affecting the quality of service provided by the university. Where required you will provide a cost and design option for any mechanical issues, to be provided to the university and other members within the department. At times you may be required to attend call-outs out of standard working hours. You will also be required to travel to the different sites of the university campus, use of a car may be required. Ideally you will be committed to help ensure the university to continue to improve their carbon footprint. 

What you'll need to succeed 
You will be qualified to HNC/HND level, ideally in Building Services or Mechanical services. You will have experience with design working with industry software; such as AutoCAD or Revit. Having extensive knowledge of the latest Gas, Legionella and water regulations is essential. Additionally, you will have experience with the design of mechanical / building services and how IT systems integrate with these systems. Having experience working previously within higher education is desirable but not essential. Finally, you will have experience with managing complex demands and prioritising them; whilst implementing risk management.

About you 
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and engage with all levels. You will possess excellent organisation skills and experience with managing multiple projects and completing them all to deadlines. Ideally you will be a member of an institution such as CIBSE or IMechE. Having knowledge of EU procurement law to complete compliance would be beneficial, however it isn’t essential.
