The Open University (OU) is the largest university in the UK by student population and is the only university to operate in all four nations of the UK. Estates are responsible for the management and development of the University’s premises in Milton Keynes and its National and Regional Centres.
We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to lead the Maintenance Team and ensure the effective maintenance of building fabric, structures, grounds, mechanical and electrical engineering services, plant and equipment at the University’s premises. You will lead a team of 34 staff and a diverse portfolio of technical consultants and contractors with a recurring budget of £3.5 million.
A technical expert in the maintenance of the build environment, you will be flexible, able to adapt to change, use initiative and solve problems creatively, with excellent management, leadership and interpersonal skills including communication, negotiating and influencing.
You will have demonstrable experience of leading an operational team in a diverse organisation.
You will have a HND, HNC, BTEC, NVQ level 4 or degree relevant to building services, mechanical or electrical engineering.
