As a Senior Sustainability Engineer, you will be expected to have moved beyond developing the knowledge and skills attained during your academic training at university and to have added to this new skills and experience from 5 years working as an engineer.

Duties and topics included within your experience to be built upon within this role will comprise but not be limited to:

Have a good level of experience in sustainability design, including:

  • BREEAM assessments
  • Sustainability or energy strategies
  • SAP calculations (Stroma software)
  • Dynamic modelling using EDSL’s TAS software.
  • Undertake mechanical building services surveys
  • Calculation, design, drawing and specification of the below:
  • Ventilation
  • Air conditioning and comfort cooling
  • Process plant
  • Domestic hot and cold-water services
  • Plumbing
  • Kitchen equipment
  • Lifts
  • Fire detection and alarm systems
  • Security systems
  • Telephone and IT systems
  • Building and energy management systems
  • Value engineering analysis
  • Added value to the design
  • Good general understanding of electrical building services

Skills & Requirements

You will be expected to have started professional CPD and be a registered member of an engineering institution such as CIBSE or iMECHe, and to build upon knowledge or skills in the following areas:

  • Good all-round knowledge of the construction industry
  • Knowledge of IT and the ability to use a variety of computer software, MS Office, AutoCAD, TAS/
  • Possess exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of the following at or about the following levels
  • Building construction Engineer level
  • Building services engineering Engineer level
  • Building regulations Basic
  • Standard forms of contract None
  • Project Management Basic

Other

You will need to be a team player prepared to work hard to advance your career and work towards chartered membership of the CIBSE or IMechE as appropriate. You will be expected to work accurately and with the minimum of supervision.
