Are you an ambitious design engineer, keen to make your name working on a big name project for a big name global company? Interested in the challenge of managing the design of large-scale projects in a high-pace environment? This could be the perfect opportunity for your next move.
This company is a 40,000 strong international construction group, very well-known and respected, with global reach and a major presence in the UK market. The M&E design and build arm is looking to add a design expert to manage the design process of one of their major projects, a nationally-significant project in north west London. Someone with technical expertise in design, and who also has the skills and characteristics to be a quality design manager – good project management; quick-thinking; problem-solver; good with people; organised.
The role will be broad and varied and depend on the daily ins and outs of the project, but in brief a few of the day to day responsibilities are likely to include:
- Taking ultimately responsible for the site design process and procedures, co-ordinating design development from concept through detailed design to specification;
- CDM co-ordinations;
- Working with Project Mangers to develop the initial design briefs
- Appointing design consultants, liaising with them throughout the process and controlling the flow of information;
- Providing pre-construction information to the Lead Designer and Designers
- Reviewing design information at tender stage and identifying gaps;
- Reviewing and monitoring the designs before and throughout the process to hit brief and budget;
- Monitoring delivery of the design through constant communication and occasional site inspections;
- Providing design assistance when required during tender, construction and handover;
- Arranging and leading design team / client engagement meetings;
