To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit a sustainability/environmental manager.

Your new role
This role would be responsible for helping the university to continue reducing their carbon footprint and energy usage. You will focus on developing any of the university's environmental issues to help them become a green university, by implementing strategies that comply with the government legislative requirements. You will be working closely with the council and will be the lead on the negotiation to implement the connect into the district heating scheme. You will be required to provide accurate management reports on energy cost/consumption and carbon emissions to all parties such as the director of estates and commercial services. You will also be involved in the procurement and management of the utilities provided to the university. The role will also require you to complete energy assessments in order to display EPC's & DEC's. You will also actively search for new funding opportunities and secure financial support for the university to reach their targets. You will also raise environmental awareness around the university campus through events and campaigns. At times you may be required to attend call-outs out of standard working hours. You will also be required to travel to the different sites of the university campus, use of a car may be required. Ideally you will be committed to help ensure the university to continue to improve their carbon footprint.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be qualified to degree or equivalent level in an appropriate discipline. You will have proven experience of energy or sustainability management and managing the energy efficiency programmes. You will solid working knowledge of BMS for any medium or large businesses. Ideally you will have experience of working within a wide range of environmental issues; Having experience working previously within higher education is desirable but not essential. Finally, you will have experience with the design and conducting environmental audits.

About you
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and engage with all levels. You will possess excellent organisation skills and experience with managing multiple projects and completing them all to deadlines. Ideally you will be a member of an institution such as CIBSE. Having knowledge of EU procurement law to complete compliance would be beneficial, however it isn't essential. You will be comfortable with managing complex demands and prioritising them; whilst implementing risk management.
