Job Details

M&E Building Services engineer required by a council to coordinate PPM and capital works.

Your new company
This is a large public sector organisation based in Newtownards who provide services to the public and the community across North Down and throughout the Ards Peninsula. They have a vast estate of buildings, land, parks and leisure facilities located across North Down and Newtownards.


Your new role
This is a temporary position for an initial 6 months based in Newtownards. As the Technical Compliance Officer, you will undertake condition surveys of the organisations property to establish a basis for Capital and Planned Maintenance works to all mechanical and electrical building services throughout the estate.

Further to this you will:
Provide annual estimates for capital works and planned maintenance
Create proposal documents for capital works
Program works to ensure minimal disruption to the organisations services
Supervise external contractor works and approve payments
Ensure full compliance with statutory authority requirements for Legionella, and Fire Safety
Keep up to date records of planned maintenance and completed capital works
Manage the organisations obligations for legislative maintenance, compliance and energy management.


What you'll need to succeed
Relevant technical qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent plus 2 years' relevant M+E experience in each of the following areas:

  • Building Services condition surveying
  • Programming planned maintenance
  • Planning and supervision of small contracts
  • Contract management
  • Working knowledge of current building legislation
  • Use of computer based maintenance software to program, monitor, record and production of reports.

An HNC or equivalent in a Building/Engineering would be beneficial but not essential. Hold a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle.


What you'll get in return
The salary will be £24,799 with paid annual leave, free on-site car parking.
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
6 month contract with possibility for extension.
You will be paid weekly via BACS transfer.
