We are currently working with one of the UK's leading district heating companies that specialise in design, installation and commissioning of heat networks.

Due to their continued growth and success, they now have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join them. This is an exciting time to be joining the business as they are experiencing significant growth having been acquired by a global powerhouse.

Reporting to: Commercial Director

Responsible for: New Sales, Business Development, Product Development and Account Management

Overall job scope: Responsibility for identification of new business, new sales, account management and supporting/leading the bid process

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leading the new business/sales process from lead identification to contractual close
  • Growing the business through client acquisition, account development and new sales
  • Identifying new clients and promoting sales to them
  • Identifying key accounts and developing business with them
  • Fostering and nurturing familiar relationships with clients and business development teams
  • Manage all inputs from a variety of internal and external stakeholders, typically involving contributions from suppliers, sub-contractors, sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery to permit development of a winning bid strategy
  • Following up on client leads and market opportunities
  • Being knowledgeable about products and services offered by the business
  • Selling products and services in person and over the phone
  • Raising the company profile by attending expositions and seminars
  • Suggesting new projects and services to tap into new markets
  • Assisting with investment and financial decisions to benefit the company
  • Develop a fully conversant understanding of the competitive marketplace in which we operate including sound commercial understanding of the range of products and services.
  • Preparation and delivery of written proposals and presentations to new and existing clients
  • Identify new opportunities through research and networking and develop win-win strategies
  • Complying with regulations and laws of business development
  • Maintaining a positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients to grow the business
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising market information and trends and present to Director or other interested parties
  • Promoting a culture of growth through sales across the business
  • Educating team members on best business practices and techniques for increasing effectiveness
  • Introduction, development and implementation of all necessary sales and bid procedures, governance, and processes
  • Generate understanding or market competition and competitors to permit differentiation and development of our USP
  • Undertake market benchmarking to improve competitiveness
