We are currently working with one of the UK's leading district heating companies that specialise in design, installation and commissioning of heat networks.

Due to their continued growth and success, they now have a fantastic opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join them. This is an exciting time to be joining the business as they are experiencing significant growth having been acquired by a global powerhouse.

Reporting to: Director

Responsible for: Project Manager, Site Manager, Site Supervisors, Welders, Pipe fitter, Electrofusion Jointers, Labourers, Plant Operators

Overall job scope:

Overall responsibility for the successful and timely operational delivery of all projects to achieve all contractual requirements whilst ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance. Ensure that Company procedures are followed and objectives achieved. To seek out, maximise and develop new business opportunities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Account Management

o Manage and develop end customers to maximise opportunities and build long term collaborative relationships
o Identify new business and ensure the business has the opportunity to tender

  • Delivery

o Develop and manage all projects from tender to completion

o Lead pre-start meetings to the site team and maintain overall responsibility for the operational project delivery and communication to staff throughout the programme

o Client liaison and attendance at project meetings as required

o Overall responsibility for resource planning and scheduling for all programmes

o Reporting to Directors on project variables

o Oversee coordination of all design and construction activity to deliver successful site based installation

o Supervise, motivate and ensure the compliance of employees, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers

o Enforce compliance and administer disciplinary actions as required

o Identify scope, develop and implement efficiencies in operational procedures

  • Health and Safety
    o Set the highest standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations

o Review and audit (in conjunction with the nominated safety provider) high level safety documentation (high risk RAMS, construction phase plan)

o Responsible for ensuring BMS is correctly enforced and administered across all operational activity. Continuous review of the Business Management System to ensure legislative and business requirements are met
o Responsible for overall management and execution of staff training and development
o Identify new legislative changes (with third party) impacting policy/procedure and share with the business. Implement modifications of operational procedures to suit.

  • Quality
    o Oversee final sign off of Site Handover documents

o Coordinate all as-built drawing for all programmes with Design

o Overall management and preparation of all site-based quality information

o Ensure all projects are compliant with specifications and design

  • Commercial
    o Review the monthly CVR's with the Commercial team and implement necessary actions

o Identify suppliers and subcontractors

o Ensure site team compliance with Company commercial policies and procedures

o Management of training requirements against budget

o Overall management of variations and instructions with end customer

o Ensure material bill of quantities meet project requirements to best value

o Approve Project Manager timesheets
