Are you a skilled Electrical Services Design Engineer who would like to join a growing team? Do you enjoy problem solving and applying your knowledge to design electrical services? Are you working towards or do you have Chartered Status of a professional institution like CIBSE or IET?
Based in Estate Services, part of the University’s Facilities Directorate, which provides and manages the physical environment in which staff and students work, live and learn you will support the Senior Electrical Engineer in delivering high quality outputs.
You will be responsible for carrying out feasibility, design, specification, tendering, cost control and site monitoring of electrical projects and installations in a ‘live’ campus environment for refurbishments and some new builds.
The individual shall have experience of electrical building services systems design and working towards achieving or have Chartered Status.
The role involves working within an internal multi-disciplinary design team including architects, interior designers and a mechanical engineer towards delivery of predominantly refurbishment works projects on a ‘live’ University campus.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact with people at all levels, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. You will have excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet strict deadlines. You will also be self-motivated, proactive and have the ability to work independently as well as within a team or group.
You must be proficient in AutoCAD drawing and will be required to produce your own design drawings in CAD. Qualifications and experience in building information modelling (BIM) including use of Revit would be advantageous. You will be required to work flexibly to support planned and emergency out of hours working during, for example, disconnections, shutdowns.
You must be proficient in the use of electrical building services system calculations using the following types of software: Dialux for lighting & Amtech for Low Voltage Distribution.
