Job Details

Mechanical or Electrical construction project manager required by a public organisation on a contract basis.

Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body based in Co. Antrim, to recruit for a Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Engineer on an interim contract basis, imagined to run for a minimum of 6 months.
Our client has a large portfolio of commercial property throughout Northern Ireland, each property ranges in size, age and condition.


Your new role
Working within the Property Department, you will manage planned maintenance contracts, overseeing consultants and contractors across a diverse range of works.
The role includes design of systems such as; air conditioning, BMS (Building Management Systems), escalators, lifts, CCTV, fire suppression, intruder alarms, heating & ventilation, electrical distribution and lighting, electrical re-wires, boiler house design among others.
As such, you will have responsibility for managing consultants and contractors through pre-tender stage, tender stage, pre-contract stage, contract stage and post contract stage.

Furthermore, you will liaise with building supervisors prior to the start of each contract, assist in answering queries during the contract, and will be involved in defect inspections at the end of each contract.


What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you will have experience in taking new build, design and build, capital works or maintenance contracts from start to finish, with the ability to effectively manage external consultants and contractors.

You will be suitably qualified in an Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental or Energy discipline ideally to a minimum of HNC and have strong CAD skills.

Furthermore, experience in liaising with end users would be beneficial.


What you'll get in return
This is a superb opportunity to work in a busy public sector estates division with a strong team of building and engineering professionals. £30,500 pro rata, paid weekly via BACS transfer along with paid annual leave entitlement.
A competitive hourly rate is on offer and the working week is 36 hours Monday to Friday.
