Senior Electrical Engineer

F. P. Hurley & Sons Ltd are an award-winning Building Services Contractor with an annual turnover of over £30 million. The company has developed a respected mechanical design and build department which allows the company to self-deliver projects from inception to handover. We now want to provide a complete M&E package offering designs for both disciplines. Therefore, we have an opportunity for a self-motivated, Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and develop an electrical design section.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Develop an electrical team and manage external Consultants.
• Review Consultant Designs and offer technical guidance to the estimating Department.
• Produce position statements and technical guidance
• Carry out surveys of electrical plant, infrastructure and fixed wiring installations and systems
• Evaluate risk assessments for electrical services project elements
• Manage the delivery of new electrical installations, including material and workmanship specifications.
• Work with our Electrical Sub Contractors to ensure specification and budget compliance.
• Assist Project Manager in the delivery of electrical projects.
• Day-to-day oversight of the electrical installations and systems refurbishment programme.
• Manage electrical co-ordination.
• Work with BIM to provide deliverables inline with project BEP.

The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running and handle multiple projects simultaneously. You will also be a motivated individual that is able to work well as part of a team or individually with limited supervision. You will be able to use a variety of different design software and have strong client facing skills having attended meetings and dealing with stakeholders in previous positions. You will have experience with mentoring junior and intermediate members of staff and will be able to help them reach their potential within the business.

You will have experience of supervising and monitoring the performance of external contractors and consultants in delivering electrical testing/inspection and installation activities and a good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer Requirements:

• Degree or HND qualified in building services or electrical engineering
• 8+ years in a design role within a consultancy or contractor
• CEng or working towards an advantage but not essential.
• Up to date knowledge of building regulations and legislation
• Good knowledge of cost based solutions
• Revit user.
• Full UK driving license
• A good understanding of Construction Contracts, financial and resource management, procurement and client interface
• Experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Amtech (or similar) and Relux/Dialux Design software.
