Mechanical Building Services Engineer job with NIHE overseeing external contractor quality and performance.

Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to recruit a Mechanical Contract & Performance Manager to work out of their office in Belfast covering all regions of Northern Ireland. This organisation has more than 85,000 properties and employs 3,000 members of staff throughout NI.

Your new role
This is a temporary position based in Belfast city centre working Monday to Friday.
The main purpose of the position is to assist the Contract & Performance M&E Manager in ensuring that M&E contracts are delivered in accordance with the NIHE's policies and procedures in consistent approach across all Regions. Particular emphasis on Heating and M&E Facilities Contracts.
Key responsibilities:
Maintain regular dialogue with Regional staff and contractors to ensure contractor performance and quality is maintained to a high level and that all targets and key performance indicators are achieved.
Provide Mechanical technical advice to all members of the NIHE's staff, contractors and tenants as required.
Monitor statistics and collate all paperwork to report monthly in relation to Key Performance Indicators and contract management matters.
Contribute to the effective delivery of a Quality Service through the formulation, review and proper implementation of policies and procedures including the preparation of Advice Notes for staff and contractors as required.
Work in conjunction with the NIHE's procurement and pre-procurement teams to ensure that suitable contracts are in place for effective project delivery. As necessary, prepare Mechanical specifications etc. to enable the invitation of tenders and/or quotations.

What you'll need to succeed
Applicants must provide evidence that they meet the following essential criteria:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Mechanical and Electrical discipline plus at least 2 years' relevant post qualification experience.
OR
BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical and Electrical discipline plus at least 3 years' relevant post qualification experience.
OR
Exceptionally, candidates not having the above level of qualification but with 5 years' relevant experience may also be considered.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following qualifications:

  • Gas Safe: CCN1
  • Oftec: 101, 105 & 600


What you'll get in return
You will get the opportunity to work for a large Housing Body on an ongoing temporary contract. This position offers an immediate start with weekly payment via BACS transfer with all business mileage expenses being reimbursed at 45p per mile. The role allows for an excellent work-life balance with the working hours amounting to 37 per week along with an annual holiday entitlement of 33 days, inclusive of stats.
