Our client is a leading consultancy looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take up a site-based position in Somerset working on Hinkley C. This would be a site based 18-24-month secondment, after which time our client will move you in to an office of your choice. Our client is looking for someone with a background in either Building Services, Nuclear engineering. It would be highly advantageous if you have experience in both as well as having worked in the defence sector. Our client is proposing a 4 day working week where they will cover the costs of accomodation and travel to the site.

It is important that the successful engineer is extremely technically competent when it comes to the design of electrical systems for a variety of building types, It would be highly advantageous if you had experience in the nuclear or defence sector. You will work with the Engineering Partner on a regular basis, reporting weekly on progress to ensure all projects are completed to a high technical standard, on time and on budget. You will also have experience in mentoring more junior members of staff and overseeing a team. Ideally you will have carried out fee earning work and will also be used to undertaking feasibility studies etc. you will have good stakeholder management and will be used to dealing with clients on a day to day basis.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage one or more technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management responses. Full technical responsibility and operational accountability for Building Services output on projects Responsibility for key client management for specific clients Manage the performance of others to ensure clients receive a great service Provides management, motivation, inspiration and leadership for other members of the Building Services team Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by project management and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget. Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process. Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.

Principal Electrical Design Engineer Requirements:

Degree in electrical engineering or building services Working towards CEng and ideally industry accredited qualifications Minimum of 10 years in the building services industry Technically capable in design of electrical systems Sector experience within Building Services or Nuclear would be advantageous
