British Antarctic Survey is looking for a Project Manager to plan and oversee works to modernise the BAS Cambridge site.

Purpose

The project manager is to plan and oversee a three year programme of works to modernise the BAS Cambridge site heating network and remove the site from gas fuel, in line with our carbon reduction strategy.

You will oversee the development of this ambitious project all the way from feasibility study, to construction and handover. Meeting the project’s goals on time and within budget, it will require you to organize people, tasks and resources to bring about a successful conclusion. Liaising with contractors, internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with best practice and documented procedures.

The project manager will complete a full suite of project documentation throughout the project, enabling a smooth, soft handover to the Cambridge Estates team on competition. This role will be based in Cambridge.

Qualification

  • NVQ, HNC or BTEC in appropriate discipline
  • Prince2
  • A NEBOSH / IOSH certification would be desirable

Duties

Project Management

  • Working with your project Executive you will be responsible for setting up your project team,
    meeting structure and project reporting plan.
  • Defining and implementing the structure of project documentation.
  • Ensuring that the project outputs and products are delivered on time and are of agreed quality.
  • Chair and participate in project meetings
  • Present to a wide range stakeholders
  • Manage the project budget
  • Manage the independent verification of technical documents
  • Ensure the timely handover of all project documentation and products
  • Ensure that the construction phase is actively managed on-site, prioritising safe delivery of all
    construction activities

General

  • Take part in planning sessions with the Cambridge estates team
  • Any other duties as required by the director of BAS
