Job Details

Senior Building Physics Engineer - £40 to £45K + Package

Would you like to work with one of the London's leading commercial property developers?

With a genuine desire to achieve a net zero carbon property portfolio, this commercial property developer and investor are looking for a Senior Building Physics Engineer to help champion NZC projects.

You'll use your expert IESVe skills to model landmark buildings such as commercial offices, hotels, mixed-use developments and high-rise residential towers; with a huge focus on designing for greater performance.

Rather than getting pigeon holed into just doing Building Physics; you also get to develop new skills in LCA / LCC within existing buildings, scripting or automation and BREEAM, Well or Passivhaus.

You'll help address the energy performance gap, and enjoy seeing your projects through from feasibility to post occupancy evaluations.

Key duties;

  • Dynamic Thermal Modelling using IES and IESVe.
  • Parametric modelling and optimisation studies.
  • Life Cycle Carbon Assessments and operational energy modelling (TM 54).
  • Preparing Energy Assessments for the GLA.
  • Low or Zero Carbon and Sustainability studies.
  • Heating and cooling calculations.
  • Thermal comfort assessments (TM52, TM59, BB101 etc).
  • Part L compliance modelling.
  • Providing advice on low carbon building design.
  • Educating clients on the principals of the Circular Economy.

Requirements

  • MSc, MEng, BEng or BSc in a relevant field such as Architectural Engineering, Environmental Design and Engineering, Building Services or similar.
  • Advanced IES skills, ideally some knowledge of ApacheHVAC.
  • Good awareness of passive design, LETI, LCA and the Circular Economy.

This is a great opportunity to join a stable, supportive and experienced Sustainability team and help model some of London's most iconic new developments over the next five years.

You'll get involved in projects at the early design stages and be able to influence the projects concept; and be able to achieve a truly sustainable design.
