UCL is embarking on a 10 year. Capital Programme which will see capital investment over the period amounting to around £1.2bn and including the development of a New University Quarter (UCL East) at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.  The scale, variety and complexity of the portfolio are unparalleled in the sector. 

The Assistant Director, Engineering and Infrastructure is responsible for leading strategy, development and integrated operational delivery of infrastructure management, engineering, fabric and maintenance services to ensure the estate and associated infrastructure is fit for purpose, legally compliant, providing high levels of customer service and meeting other institutional priorities and initiatives.  The role will also play a crucial role in delivering UCL’s Sustainability Strategy and carbon reduction targets.

The Assistant Director ensures that the Engineering & Infrastructure team successfully interfaces with the Estates Development; Campus and Accommodation Services; Safety, Sustainability & Communications Teams resulting in an intelligent and integrated approach to estates and asset management - with an annual maintenance spend exceeding £34m, managed through a team of over 70 technical and trade staff and a wide range of service and specialist contracts.

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in delivering high levels of customer service across a similarly diverse and complex estate. You will be an adept leader, with strong people management skills who can develop effective internal and external relationships. This is a role that will suit ‘can do’ individuals with a high level of personal drive and energy.
