An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated person with an attention to detail to join the Maintenance, Engineering & Infrastructure Team within the Estates and Capital Developments (ECD) department at Aston University. 

The Maintenance, Engineering & Infrastructure Team within ECD are responsible for the strategic development and operation of the campus infrastructure and the maintenance of the built environment, including the campus grounds. The team are also responsible for managing energy consumption and driving the University towards carbon zero.

The Engineering Manager will be a technical champion for Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Engineering, including appointment as a responsible person for various engineering systems and line managing two Building Services Technicians.

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, Engineering and Infrastructure, the successful candidate will manage the BMS (TREND Building Management System) and AMR (Elcomponent Automatic Meter Reading), assist the Maintenance section in specifying and procuring outsourced maintenance contracts and lead their own engineering projects from inception to funding, design, procurement and installation (with the assistance of consultant design teams as ncessary). In addition to monitoring and reporting on energy usage, and identifying saving opportunities, the Engineering Manager will also work closely with the ECD Projects Team and lead their Building Services Technicians in surveys, investigations, fault finding and infrastructure isolations.

Applicants must have good written and spoken English skills, along with good formal and informal presentation skills. Accuracy, attention to detail and high level of organisation are a prerequisite. A strong customer service focus is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal contacts at various levels.

The role is based at the Aston University city centre campus. The University also includes an off campus Recreation Centre in Walsall. The University operates a dynamic working policy, where staff are empowered to work from the location which most benefits the task. This will include on-site and off-site working.
