Southampton City Council is looking for an Electrical Engineer.

You will play an integral part within the multi-disciplinary Design Services team for the successful delivery of professional services for a variety of clients and sectors within the Council across a range of structural engineering services.

As the successful candidate, you will have an Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification, e.g. BSc or BEng, with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.

You will have Professional registration or be working towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

You will have proven experience of Electrical engineering project design.

You will be reporting to a Senior Electrical Engineer and be able to work with architects within the context of the multidisciplinary Design Services team.  Experience of project delivery, with a knowledge and understanding of relevant design and implementation related legislation is essential. Along with relevant British Standards you must be familiar with the Building Regulations and CDM 2015.

You must be able demonstrate understanding of BIM protocols, plus the ability to coordinate electrical engineering designs with other design disciplines. 

You will be comfortable using software, such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, as well as specialist software such as Amtech / Hevacomp. You must also possess the writing and presentation skills to support formal submissions. 

The successful candidate will communicate in a co-operative and persuasive manner and will be able to build excellent client and colleague relationships, as well as prioritise, delegate and manage multiple tasks or projects to meet deadlines. They will also possess some experience of mentoring younger colleagues entering the profession.
