M&E Design Manager (Mechanical Bias)
£70-75K London- Kent - Homebased
Are you looking to work with a busy and growing contractor in London? Our client has a strong presence in the South East and is currently looking for a Design Manager of mechanical bias to assist with their ongoing projects. Our client Is looking for someone that has a fantastic understanding of ductwork and exhaust systems as well as corridor cooling systems and heat gains. You will have experience with pressure drop calculations for ductwork sizing and fan specifications. You will oversee the design team and assist with designing and installing M&E systems dealing with airflow and electrical control.
Doing the calculations would be a small part of this role. You will also be responsible for advising on environmental options (overheating), reviewing tender specifications with the estimators, pressurisation and de-pressurisation systems. The role would involve the design, specification review, assistance with costings. You would be the authority when it comes to checking system drawings produced by the design team and handovers to project managers. On top of this, you would also be responsible for the production of or checking O&M manuals and submission docs.
You would be expected to run the design team for the business and help lead day to day operations of the design team so it would be essential that you have operated in this capacity before. You will be expected to assist with site certification if necessary. It may also be the case that you are asked to take the lead on the review of existing systems already installed in buildings to ascertain their suitability using in-house consultants to validate findings.
Design Team Lead Requirements:
* Degree in Building Services or Relevant field
* Minimum of 7 years post qualification experience either in a design capacity or managing M&E Design
* Ideally CEng and a member of an accrediting body
* Must have led projects and teams of engineers.
* Experience on-site reviewing live projects
