Principal Electrical Engineer

Our client is one of the leading multidisciplinary consultancies in the country working on projects across the country as well as getting involved with complex international schemes. They have been very busy through the lockdown period and have seen an influx of projects which have been green lit to go ahead in 2021 which has seen them need to bring a competent Principal Electrical Design Engineer into their brand new Reading office. This is a really exciting opportunity to be a part of a well-established company in a brand new regional office. One notable project that you will get to be a part of is a very large development programme in Reading. One aspect of this development scheme is a large Office building, Health & Fitness Studio, Café & Lounge area and Roof terraces. They plan to design this using cutting edge technologies and strategies, aiming to put sustainability at the forefront of their designs hoping to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. Our client has adopted a fully agile way of working, not enforcing set office hours and allowing you to be fully autonomous in the way you work. They feel they get the best out of their engineers when they leave them in control of their own workload.

Our client are looking for someone with a minimum of 8 years in the building services industry with a strong background in design of Electrical systems. You will need to have experience using industry specific software such as Amtech, Dialux, Relux. It would also be highly advantageous If you had experience using Revit. Ideally you will have seen projects from concept to completion and will have some sort of involvement with clients. You will ideally have experience running your own projects and teams and be used to mentoring more junior members of staff, acting as a team lead.

Principal Electrical Design Engineer Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Services or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years design experience in the building services industry
  • Ideally acted as project Lead on projects, used to working with clients, architects, developers and contractors
  • CEng or working towards ideally a member of a recognised body
  • Seen projects through all RIBA stage
  • Ability to manage own workload
