Job Details

Energy Officer needed by Large Local Authority. Part time role for 6 months

Large Local Authority- working within strategic property services

The role
Develop, implement, monitor and provide progress reports on the Carbon Management and Environmental Policy as part of the Asset Management Framework.

Manage carbon emissions, and energy and other utilities within the County Council's property portfolio and develop initiatives to cut emissions, consumption and cost.

Advise on the development of new projects to ensure best environmental practice is followed including BREEAM assessments.

As the organisations lead expert in the area provide information and advice to Members, departments, schools and Corporate Property officers about energy efficiency and sustainability.

Develop and manage the Council's carbon management, energy and water data systems.

Provide support with the procurement of utility contracts for the County Council.

Contribute towards the development of the Council's environmental policies and strategies.

Identify opportunities to secure third party funding to support the County Council's energy efficiency and sustainability policies.




What you'll need to succeed
Extensive experience of managing programmes of work associated with energy efficiency, sustainability and carbon management.

Experience of monitoring energy and other utilities and implementing initiatives to reduce emissions, cost and consumption

Proven record of managing resources and budgets

Multi-agency, cross functional and partnership working

Demonstrate an up to date understanding of sustainability and energy management

A sound understanding and practical knowledge of Local Government and partner public services.

Legislation requirements in relation to sustainability and energy management

An effective communicator able to express and present ideas and concepts in public forums with an advanced ability to negotiate with and influence individuals and professional representatives.

Able to integrate with multi-disciplinary teams and to proactively support colleagues.

Ability to travel to sites across a large geographical area.

A relevant degree level qualification
A member of a recognised professional organisation,, e.g. RICS, IWFM, EMA
