Large education MAT trust are seeking a Carbon Neutral Manager

Carbon Neutral Manager

Location: National - flexible to include remote/hybrid working, with regular travel to London

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Contract type: Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, flexible working

The role

As Carbon Neutral Manager, you will play a key role in determining the steps we need to take as an organisation to achieve our goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030, and in supporting schools to take action.

You will provide informed, evidence-based advice to schools and central office colleagues in relation to carbon reduction, including energy management and the wider sustainability agenda. You will work with external experts where appropriate to identify the best options for reducing energy-related carbon emissions in a cost-effective way, including maximising our use of renewable energy sources, and to ensure that all our schools are taking action to improve energy efficiency. You will work with senior colleagues - including members of the Executive Team - to develop and implement our strategy for reaching net zero, including tracking our progress towards our goal.

This is a joint role, working across our Estates Team (which leads on our energy strategy) and our Strategy and Performance Team (which has the overall carbon neutral strategy). You will help to make sure that we are making appropriate links between the different strands of work that will deliver our ambition, bringing colleagues together to identify opportunities and address issues. You will support colleagues across the organisation to develop robust plans for achieving net zero.

this is an opportunity to make a difference on a large scale - across over 80 schools and impacting on more than 55,000 pupils. You will be based in either our London or Peterborough office and will be expected to visit both offices and schools across the Group. United Learning is happy to consider requests for flexible working, including hybrid home/office working.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a passion for sustainability and experience of environmental and energy management, preferably in the education sector. You will be a strong communicator - both orally and in writing - able to translate your technical understanding into clear and compelling actions in order to bring others with you. You will have a keen interest in learning more and improving your skills, so that United Learning is at the forefront of moves to cut emissions in the education sector.

You will be able to build strong relationships with colleagues in schools and in our partner organisations. Your success will depend on your ability to deliver through others and to manage competing priorities, including responding quickly but calmly to issues as they arise.
