As part of our growth programme, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our Estate Services Team, supporting Essex Police in provide effective and efficient policing throughout the county of Essex.

The team manages all property related matters from small repairs to multi-million-pound new build and refurbishment projects, as well as dealing with all aspects of owning and leasing property. The team is currently implementing a significant estate transformation programme, aimed at modernising the estate to provide an environment fit for policing now and in the future.

If successful you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and will be responsible for promoting energy management and environmental strategies across the force. You will also be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing initiatives to reduce costs and carbon emissions and encouraging the use of renewable/sustainable energy resources.

You will also help with the preparation of business cases to support initiatives identified along with assessing risks, priorities, costs and benefits. Experience of undertaking energy surveys and audits is desirable.

At shortlisting we will be looking for essential evidence of:

  • A degree in Energy, Environmental Science or other related discipline;
  • Experience of energy monitoring and management activities for a medium to large organisation;
  • A thorough understanding of the relevant legislative and regulatory framework.
  • Research, analysis and presentation of complex information using Microsoft Office;
  • Problem-solving skills and innovative approach to finding solutions to problems in a cost-effective way;
  • Experience of managing a project from inception to completion

This opportunity would suit a highly motivated individual with perseverance who can bring their experience to a forward-thinking Estate Services team.

The role is based at Essex Police Headquarters, Chelmsford, with some remote working being available by agreement.
