Are you looking for a unique, research driven and exciting opportunity?..

Your new company

Our client is a global ratings agency for the Voluntary Carbon Market. Their carbon credit ratings allow all market participants to price and manage risk. Their carbon ratings and research tools support buyers, intermediaries, investors, and carbon project developers. Founded in April 2020, their 60-strong team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. With a head office in London, and their team working across five continents. Their primary business is the rating of carbon credits across all sectors in the Voluntary Carbon Market. To be a ratings business, they must be transparent in our process, independent in their interests, and constantly sensitive to new information which could change the ratings assessment. As well as a transparent ratings methodology, the team has lots of technical research expertise. So, they have a large Ratings and Research team made up of carbon credit analysts and scientists, but also specialist research areas such as Earth Observation, Net Zero, Natural Capital. The research they conduct, either themselves or in partnership (with universities, institutions and sometimes with businesses) must educate the market, develop the market, or raise standards across the market. They do not execute, trade, facilitate nor make recommendations to carbon offset purchases and sales

Your new role

This role will be focused on researching the science and evidence behind different types of carbon offsets and continuing to build our database of evidence, scores, and ratings. It will also require interacting with clients and external stakeholders through calls, presentations, reports, blogs etc. Strong written, presentational, and oral communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of knowledge in their area of expertise and the ability to create effective messaging for a diverse audience. The candidate will report to the company's Head of Carbon Ratings and can work remotely or from their London-based office on GMT hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Research offset projects in the voluntary carbon market
  • Expanding and developing their ratings model
  • Curating their literature database
  • Participating in feature development for their tech platform offering.
  • Writing research reports on market trends and dynamics.
  • Attending conferences and events, as a business representative.
  • Working towards monthly targets.
