The Directorate of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD) provides a broad spectrum of services, managing the campus buildings, campus public realm and providing services to support work and study.

Within the Directorate, the Estates Operations (Reactive Maintenance) Team carry out the essential repairs and maintenance activities with the minimum disruption to the University's core functions of teaching and learning, research and commercial activity.

The Estates Operations team is formed of three sections, Electrical, Mechanical and Building Fabric maintenance, who provide customer focused maintenance services to the University's academic and residential customers.

About the role:

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will undertake reactive and preventative maintenance duties as part of a team of Engineers.

The Estates Operations team also deliver an out of hour's service, responding to emergency and business critical issues with additional salary contributions for on-call staff. Ultimately, we maintain the operational status of the University's buildings to support the delivery of the core business functions.

EFCD are currently embarking on a Customer Service Excellence (CSE) programme with the objective of improving the services that our customers experience. This is an exciting time to be joining a customer focussed, progressive and expanding team with clear direction and a ‘can do, will do' attitude.

You will also receive an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum, which is in recognition of staff contribution to the University's achievements and which will be added to your base salary each month until 31st July 2023.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring. We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic candidates, who we recognise are underrepresented in this area.

We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations about this throughout the application process.
