MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER– MANCHESTER OFFICE

ABOUT THE ROLE

Project Engineers are at the core of our projects, being the people in charge of the day-to-day running of projects and acting as the first port of call both internally and externally.  As such, they will have the most detailed knowledge about all aspects of their projects.

Right now, we are looking for engineers who are able to see the big picture and influence positive outcomes:  meeting the needs of clients and our society; using design to proactively respond to the climate emergency; communicating clearly and collaborating effectively with our clients and others to deliver world-class sustainable buildings.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting and involving projects, which all require a creative, thoughtful and rigorous approach to design and delivery. We enjoy contributing to the process of collaborative working - from developing a well thought out brief, to delivering a building or project that exceeds the client’s expectations.

For the right candidate, there will be the opportunity and support to begin to run a team of engineers, as well as contributing to the development of the Manchester office and the wider practice.   Whilst there is a need to able to work independently, you will have the support of the entire practices collaborative experience behind you.

ABOUT YOU

You will be inspired by beautiful engineering design.  Whilst being able to work on your own, you will be motivated to work collaboratively and instil confidence in others, contributing positively to the team.

You will be able to demonstrate design and project management experience with an established engineering practice.  It is very likely that you will be chartered, or working towards chartered status, and will have a sound understanding of building services system design.  You will have the ability to represent most aspects of MEP engineering design coordination at meetings with the project design team and client.

This role requires you to represent the practice on projects, on a day-to-day basis, and so it is important to demonstrate your previous experience working on high quality architectural projects, from inception to practical completion and a passion for delivering the best project for the client.

It is likely that you will have some experience of leading small groups of engineers; either taking primary responsibility for smaller projects or leading an area of design on mid-size or larger projects. It is essential that you are able to prioritise a varied workload based on individual project needs.
