Senior Mechanical/Building Physics Engineer - Cardiff - to £55k

Like you, their Sustainability Associate initially started off their career as a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer, before switching to Building Performance Engineering / Sustainable Design.

You will join a team of twenty engineers and work closely directly with the Sustainability Associate, something that is just isn't available in the large / corporate engineering practices.

As a hybrid Senior Mechanical and Building Performance Engineer you'll use IESVe or ApacheHVAC to model both complex buildings and entire property portfolios on behalf of their clients. Training will be provided, externally by both IES and CIBSE, as well as internally by the Head of Building Performance, who has been with the practice or over five years.

You'll also use a variety of industry benchmarks such as Passivhaus, Nabers and BREEAM to ensure these buildings operate as efficiently as possible.

You will be able to use your skills as a Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer and your passion for Sustainability to go into a remarkably high level of detail and model every aspect of the building. I.e., HVAC systems, occupants, metering strategies, IES and IES Apache HVAC.

You'll be based in their Cardiff office (a 5-minute walk from Cardiff Queen Street station) which does support flexible and hybrid working.

Requirements

• At least five years' experience in Mechanical Engineering
• Keen interest in NZC design, Passivhaus and Enerfit (Retrofit Version)
• Advanced IES modelling skills
• Ideally some familiarity with modelling entire portfolios of buildings.
• Familiar with stage 2 -3 design
