The role would suit an MEP consultant or design manager with a strong technical grounding and preferably Pharma and/or academic research facility experience.

As the building services design lead, you will be responsible for working with the site engineering team to initially scope engineering solutions in capital projects. You will then work with the outsourced design and delivery teams to ensure that solutions are fit for purpose, meet GSKs standards, timelines and our user requirements.

You will further enhance our supply chain by managing key relationships with design consultants and specialist suppliers. You will also develop and maintain site specifications for design packages.

Within this role you will have the ability to support world class science in GSK’s largest global R&D facility. You will also be a key part in driving GSK’s net zero carbon 2030 target across EMEA.

Your Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…

  • Ensure that design and installation is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Lead the engineering design management strategy for EMEA
  • Become a regional Subject Matter Expert in Laboratory Design
  • Initiate, scope and approve engineering projects and design packages
  • Implement latest technologies and lead innovation within design packages
  • Champion GSK engineering standards in the design of projects through strong engagement with the supply chain
  • Write and contribute to User Requirement Briefs and User Requirement Specifications
  • Deliver continuous improvement activities to our capital projects design management process
  • Champion best practice in design management
  • Work with site engineering to further develop standard specifications for laboratories and offices in the EMEA region
  • Work with GSKs framework for GxP compliance and risk management
  • Lead project after action reviews to deliver continuous improvement across the project portfolio
  • Maintain ethics and compliance values even when potential risk exists.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in engineering discipline. Preferably with focus on building services
  • Relevant experience – preferably in Pharma engineering projects
  • Experience of working within complex engineering projects
  • Good understanding of sustainability and passion for energy and water efficient designs

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of the Research & Development process and understands GxP requirements
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts
  • Chartered Engineer status in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Good understanding of the construction project process and associated contracts
  • Thorough understanding of statutory legislation responsibilities in a technically complex environment.
  • Acts as a role model for applying standards to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to work within a matrix organisation
  • Chartered Engineer status in a relevant engineering discipline.
