The Site Maintenance Manager, at University Hospital Monklands, will take managerial responsibility, professional and technical leadership and accountability for all Estates responsibilities in the University Hospital Monklands, ensuring the effective delivery and management of all Estates staff and operations.

Responsible to the Head of Maintenance for all estates governance and statutory compliance matters, the delivery of a fit for purpose Estates services in University Hospital Monklands, including Minor Projects, Estates and Grounds Maintenance, Statutory Compliance and providing an assurance to the PSSD Directorate that the service output requirements of specialist contracts are being met by the third-party contractors.

The following Knowledge training and/or experience will be required:

Academic Qualification - A Graduate at Master's level and/or high-level Honours Graduate or equivalent plus demonstrable, commensurate professional and practical experience in a complex healthcare environment. Post-graduate qualification in a supplementary discipline (e.g. Business or Mechanical or Electrical or Building) and hold a managerial post-graduate qualification PG Cert, PG Dip, MA, MSc, MBA, Professional Development Awards (SCQF 11/12) Professional Qualification - A Chartered Fellow/Member of an appropriate accredited Professional Institution(s) e.g. IHEEM, CIOB, RICS, RIBA, IET, IMechE, CIBSE.

Knowledge and Skills - An advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the professional management of building construction and engineering services contained in large and complex plants and equipment associated with acute hospital and primary healthcare services settings. Evidence of success in management within a large complex organisation. Experience at a senior or middle management level in Healthcare Estates or related science regularly updated through specialist training, post-graduate learning and Continued Professional Development; A track record of delivering estates services within a large complex organisation via differing service models. Employing innovative thinking to resolve complex personnel and technical challenges in a life-sustaining, regulated clinical environment. Excellent interpersonal and strategic skills combined with a supportive, visible and dynamic leadership style.

Financial management skills to enable probity and best value with honesty and integrity. The highly specialist knowledge of technical & commercial contract management relating to building, construction, engineering support services & energy; Strategic analysis of issues considering the essential needs, risk profile and legislative context. Demonstrates initiative and leadership qualities, excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as tact, diplomacy, extensive negotiating and technical skills as the post involves dealing with a wide range of knowledgeable customers, suppliers, trade organisations and user groups; An ability to understand and deliver elements of the corporate agenda employing mature level negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Medical Gas Piped Systems
  • Pressure Systems: Steam & Compressed gases
  • Legionella: Water Management
  • Decontamination services (Infection control)
  • Ventilation Systems
  • Low Voltage Electrical Systems
  • High Voltage Electrical Systems
  • Management of Asbestos
  • Plus - Continued Professional Development (CPD)

The post holder is also required to perform continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain core competence and managerial skills. These will be structured internal/external training courses that are typically one-day duration or extended self-study over longer periods. Further specialist knowledge is gained from regular technical updates supplied. The requirement to travel between locations and flexibility for occasional unplanned out-of-hours working in the interests of patient safety Managers- On-Call rota. Therefore, a full valid UK driving licence holder is essential for the position.
