New Job - Occupational Therapist for Solihull Council working in the Adult Care team, ASAP start, £18-£34/hr
Your new company
You will be working as an Occupational Therapist for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. Your new role
To promote, enable and support independence and maintain health and wellbeing through prevention, enabling independence, environmental design and adaptation and person-centred approaches to practice
To make individual home visits to assess people's needs in accordance with current legislation and anti-discriminatory practice, promoting a strengths based approach and ensuring demonstrable person-centred outcomes.
To undertake specialist moving and handling risk assessments, advising staff, clients and carers on techniques, equipment and methods of reducing risk.
To identify and engage with positive risk-taking to enable people to achieve their full potential to reach their chosen goals, participate fully in life. To be responsible for supporting mental capacity and/or best interest decisions, subject to legal and ethical parameters.
To be aware of, and to act on identified issues of Adult and Child Safeguarding in line with directorate policies and procedures and to seek support where appropriate.
To plan an agreed programme of Occupational Therapy intervention with agreed goals and to ensure that the plan is carried through.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Enhanced DBS check
- Must have a driving license as this post will require you to drive
- You must be able to demonstrate experience of using therapeutic interventions and assessing for adaptations to promote independence
- Demonstrable experience of assessing with equipment for activities
- Knowledge of relevant medical conditions, solutions to barriers to independence
