Consultant Built Environment Specialist, Department for International Trade,£600 Per Day, 12 Month Contract

Your new company
DIT's Built Environment Sector's strategic aim is to "support UK companies in the global development of sustainable infrastructure systems". This includes the design, financing, management and re-purposing of critical and social infrastructure. The sector is key in supporting the delivery of key HMG priorities such as the development of Green Building technologies featured in the 10 Point Plan. You will be involved in the development of the Built Environment sector strategy providing up to date knowledge of UK capability.

Through your industry knowledge, contacts and commercial experience the specialist will also upskill the Infrastructure team at Headquarters and colleagues in overseas post with developing their knowledge of the industry and understanding of the sector and its contribution to Building Back for a Better Clean and Green world.

Your new role
The role will focus on the following key areas;
Supply Chain Development
* Analyse and map the UK innovation and green building technology supply chain capability, identifying potential for export, FDI and corresponding key areas of the UK offer.
Market Development
* Support the built environment sector team and Post to undertake market/ project assessments on the potential for UK green building solutions.
Policy Alignment
* Provision of technical advice to DIT and OGD officials on the impact of HMG policies on trade and investment.

What you'll need to succeed
* Strong technical knowledge of emerging sector technologies and trends (green buildings, digital built environment) and their various potential applications.
* Strong technical knowledge across the built environment project life cycle, with particular emphasis on low carbon, sustainability, adaptation and resilience.
* Knowledge and understanding of project financing and financial structuring. Including green financing and procurement routes.
* Knowledge of the UK's built environment sector innovation ecosystem and support for the development of new technologies and approaches.
* Experience of International Business Development including an understanding of the regulatory and policy environment for international projects.
