Building Performance Engineer - To £40K + Package

Due to growth, I have a unique opportunity for a Building Physics Engineer/Environmental Designer to join a new Energy and Sustainability team of a well-established architectural practice.

You'll join an energetic, friendly, and supportive team and enjoy a diverse role consisting of dynamic thermal modelling/building performance engineering, assisting with net zero carbon interventions, R&D into new technologies, materials, and modern methods of construction.

You'll also assist with environmental benchmarking and use a range of industry benchmarking tools such as BREEAM, Passivhaus, Nabers or LEED.

You'll enjoy a flexible, hybrid working environment of three days a week from the office and two from home, ongoing training, and development. And, you'll get direct support and mentoring from the Head of Sustainability, a PhD qualified individual who has a passion for Architecture, NZC Building Design and Passivhaus.

You will use your understanding of building environmental factors such as daylight, thermal comfort, solar shading, natural ventilation, building fabrics, embodied carbon, and sustainability to help future proof buildings, ensuring they are ready for the 2030 and 2050 requirements.

Current projects include, universities, museums, schools, churches, commercial offices, and hotels, typically ranging in value from £10 - £50M spanning RIBA Stages 2 - 6.

You will also draw upon your knowledge of BREEAM, Passivhaus and LEED to work in harmony with the in-house R&D Engineers, Architects and Designers, and ensure a seamless integration of sustainability, architecture, and the MEP Building Services elements on a project.

You will use your clear communication and influencing skills as you build rapport with external engineers, designers, clients, and contractors and ensure projects remain on time and budget.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in a suitable field such as Building Services, Architectural and Environmental, Mechanical or Energy Engineering.
• Previous experience using IESVe, TAS, Design Builder, EnergyPlus or PHPP.
• Previous experience working for an architectural, building services, sustainability, or multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Keen interest in low or zero carbon buildings, L.E.T.I and the UK Green Building Council.
• Ideally some previous experience with Rhino or Grasshopper
