Hays are delighted to be supporting the University of Birmingham to recruit a BEMS Control Engineer to join their Estates team. This role will contribute to developing and operating sustainable and smart campus whilst maintaining operational excellence.
You will be reporting into the BEMS Manager who is a highly experienced specialist and excellent line manager.
Your New Role (Duties and Responsibilities)
Your main purpose of the role is to maintain and operate the BEMS control systems throughout the estate across a portfolio not only used for teaching but for world-class multimillion pound research programmes. In this role, you will ensure the systems will perform to optimum capabilities, the impact on the environment is minimised whilst improving the reliability and functionality of the systems. You will provide an efficient and responsive technical service across the estate. You will be proactive in identifying potential software and hardware issues along with changes to control strategies and the equipment used in relation to carbon and energy reduction.
What You'll Need To Succeed (Skills and Experience)
You will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualifications in a relevant field along with experience from a similar role. You will have a qualification in electrical installation and practice. You will have knowledge and experience across a range of control strategies including design, commissioning, servicing, programming and management of the systems. You will have experience in Schneider Electric Ecostruxure or Sigma. You will have experience in fault diagnosis, repairs and replacement of control and BEMS devices. You will need to be able to work as part of a large and supportive Estates team and be open to helping drive the University to be the Smartest University Campus in the World.
