Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Building Services Design Limited is an established consulting practice based in the Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies, and provides MEP design services across a wide range of sectors. These include Commercial, Condominiums, Education, Hotels, Airports, Healthcare, and Residential projects.

Due to our continued success, we need to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our professional and highly committed team. We offer a very competitive tax-free (US$) salary including a long-term future for the right candidate.You will be a key part of the team, involved with client liaison and delivering Mechanical Design on high-end projects from initial concept design level to completion of construction documents.

General requirements:

• Degree in his/her field obtained from a recognised International University
• Minimum 8 (eight) years or proven design experience on major international projects
• Proven track record within a consulting engineering company
• Proficient in using the latest version of AutoCAD software and other design software
• Ability to develop designs from initial schematic stages through to completion of CDs
• Ability to work unsupervised and possess technical experience for solving design solutions 
• Sound knowledge of American Codes and Standards (NEC/NFPA/ASHRAE) within hospitality, leisure, industrial, and residential sectors
• Good communication and presentation skills in written and verbal English

Preference will be given to candidates who possess professional membership of his/her respective Engineering Council/Institute.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide input on design strategy and conceptual design relative to mechanical installations
• Undertake design calculations relevant to the design of mechanical installations within major projects
• Design mechanical installations including the production of MEP drawings in AutoCAD format along with project specifications and detailed schedules.
• Work as part of a team to meet project brief and programme requirements.
• Lead in the coordination and delivery of individual projects, including attendance at meetings, internal programming, project reviews, etc.
• Being able to liaise with clients to fully understand their needs and interpret and confirm the project brief to the Mechanical design team
• Aid and support other members of the engineering team within the office.
