As part of its drive to de-carbonise, the Council is looking to recruit a dynamic, client focused, personable, and technically strong Electrical Building Services Engineer, at a senior level, with previous people, design, project, and management experience. You will be part of a growing team of building services engineers within the in-house multi discipline design service for the Council.
You will be responsible for leading the design of high-quality buildings as well as overseeing the design by external consulting teams.
CEC are leading the way for Public sector in the adoption of low and zero carbon technologies. CEC have adopted PassivHaus as the default standard for all its new build projects and are developing a carbon focussed approach for the large number of up-and-coming RetroFit refurbishment projects. This leads to a portfolio of interesting and market leading projects requiring high levels of technical understanding.
You should ideally have a master’s or equivalent degree qualification in Building Services or Electrical Engineering and hold a full membership of a related professional body such as CIBSE, IMechE or similar.
Being a Chartered Engineer would also be of benefit.
You should also have extensive post qualification experience in building services design and project/contract management, as well as a proven record and ability of working as part of a professional design team.
The post shall cover all aspects of contract documentation preparation, billing, certifying contract payments and Principal Designer duties, as part of the CDM Regulations. You should have proficient experience and working knowledge in Auto CAD, Revit, NBS Specifications, MS Office, and engineering design packages such as Dialux and Amtech. A good understanding of mechanical design and PassivHaus design principles would also be an advantage as would experience of embedding renewable technologies into projects. You should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to present well as a representative of the Council.
Closing date: 1 August 2024.
