Talent Motion are working with the UK’s leading independent firm of Development, Built Asset, and Engineering and Sustainability Consultants to help them find a Senior Energy and Carbon Consultant to join their expanding team in London.

You'll be providing sustainability consulting services to their clients helping them achieve their sustainability goals and drive meaningful change.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of their UK-wide energy performance and net zero carbon services, working with high-profile commercial properties and developments.

You'll be part of a close-knit team of sustainability professionals, working on cutting-edge projects that cover every stage of a building's life cycle. From strategic sustainability frameworks to energy and carbon solutions, life cycle assessments (LCA), and sustainability certifications (BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS UK), you'll be involved in the full spectrum of sustainability services.

As part of a growing Engineering and Sustainability team, you’ll be working in an environment where professional development is a key priority. This role offers you the opportunity to work across a variety of exciting projects, primarily in the commercial sector but also in retail, residential, and industrial spaces.

What You'll Be Doing:
As an Energy, Carbon, and Sustainability Consultant, your role will be varied and impactful, including responsibilities such as:

  • Carbon and Energy Analysis: Supporting the delivery of net zero carbon roadmaps and pathways, assisting with energy performance assessments and reporting on carbon reduction strategies.
  • Life Cycle Assessments: Delivering LCA, Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and Whole Life Carbon (WLC) studies, including the creation of models, analysing results, and providing recommendations to reduce the carbon footprint of projects.
  • Sustainability Certifications: Assisting in the preparation of certification applications for BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS UK, ensuring clients' buildings meet the highest sustainability standards.
  • Collaborative Project Work: Working closely with their multidisciplinary teams, including MEP engineers, project managers, and sustainability consultants, to provide holistic sustainability solutions for our clients.
  • Research and Innovation: Staying ahead of the curve by keeping up with the latest developments in sustainable building design, materials, and policy frameworks, helping to ensure they remain at the forefront of industry best practice.
  • Client Engagement: Communicating sustainability strategies, carbon analysis, and energy-saving recommendations to both internal and external project teams, supporting clients on their journey to creating more sustainable buildings.

What You’ll need:

  • Passion for Sustainability: A genuine interest in sustainable development and low carbon design, particularly in how these principles can be applied to the built environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong data analysis skills, especially in Excel, with the ability to interpret results and provide actionable insights. Experience with modelling tools such as IES is a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with clients and colleagues across different disciplines.
  • Educational Background: A degree in a building-related discipline such as engineering or architecture is essential.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ambition for Professional Development: You’ll be keen to pursue professional accreditation (such as Chartership)
