Overview of the positions:As a supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of support escorts, Hays is seeking to recruit Prison Security Escorts (similar to the Operational Support Grades OSGs) role for GFSL, operating within HMP Exeter.

These are varying in duration, but expected to last over 3 months, with a rate of £13.75 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. They are temporary positions, but with the number of projects in the pipeline, the positions will continue. £13.75 per hour inclusive of holiday pay. The roles are based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm for Prison/Project Escort.

Purpose of the Prison Escort role:As part of the security team, you will be responsible for assisting with the safety and security of the establishment, where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a prison establishment, while persons from outside the prison service are on site.

Prison Escort Duties include:

• Escorting contractors & vehicles around the prison area
• Searching visitors & contractors
• Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm shifts. 37.5 hours per week.
• £13.75 per hour inclusive of Holiday Pay.
• Radio operation & handling
• Supervision of visitors & contractors on site
• Contractor Tool checks
• Patrolling perimeter and grounds
• Health & Safety Procedures
• Routine administrative work

Experience:No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role.The nature of the escort role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer service or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: acting with integrity, respecting others, building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.

Security Clearance required:Immediate start if you are already prison cleared.All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure, which can take up to 4 weeks. This can include a Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & a Photo-Driving Licence at your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
