Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We have a brilliant new opportunity for a seasoned Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading building services consultancy in London, outside IR35. This role is ideal for professionals looking to contribute their expertise to complex and high–profile developments.

The ideal candidates will have a strong background in commercial office projects, the ability to take ownership of designs, and a commitment to delivering high–quality work. This fantastic position requires the successful candidate to operate on a hybrid basis, attending the office 3 days per week.

Our client is a consultancy who provide sustainable solutions to meet the planning, engineering design and project delivery needs of the property, infrastructure, environment and energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems – power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Managing own workload, updating forward plan of workload regularly and working to time allocations.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, in–house developed tools.
• Checking the design work of fellow team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.

Key requirements

• Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
• Complex project experience required, including stage 3 and 4 office fit out experience (Ideal).
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages. Any HV tools will also be beneficial.
• Awareness of the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric first approaches.
• First rate communication skills
• Knowledge of existing standards and ability to develop requirements for new building services projects
• Drive and determination
• Good supervisory qualities and experience
• Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges
